Well, he's some talent, isn't he, for all you can crticize him of being a "lazy" player or a "luxury" player, you just can't afford to ignore this guy. That pass to Kolasinac was something which not many players can afford, it was Ozil doing what he does best. It's been a very interesting week for him, getting dropped for the North London derby and then coming back and captaining against the Carets, but one thing that was constant during this was Özil's composure, he knows he's one of the best midfielders in the world, he knows he is the most creative player in that Arsenal squad but for all this, we never got to hear any rants from the German about his lack of game time under Emery, nor did we see blasting celebrations of any sort from him after his impressive performance against Burnley, he's calm as ever and that's one reason we never get to hear any case of disharmony in the squad like in the case of Pogba at Manchester United, considering both players have similar stature in the team on account of there talent and what they have achieved. Which is quite evident by what Sead Kolasinac had to say about the German, he was quoted saying this about his wondrous pass to him, “It was unbelievable,” Kolasinac declared.
“We all know Mesut’s qualities and I only actually made that run because I saw that he had the ball.
“Not many players would have been able to play that pass. He can, and when I saw him get on the ball, I knew he was going to find me. It was a brilliant pass from him.”
When quizzed about the recent criticism that Mesut Ozil has to face, "The Tank" said, “When you’re a big star, like Mesut is, of course, there are always negative headlines. But, as a team, we don’t pay attention to them and Mesut doesn’t either. That’s what’s most important."
“We’re all behind Mesut - all the staff, all the players. If negative things are written, then that’s just what happens. In life, not everything is positive - sometimes there are negatives written about you too, and he’s had that. But yesterday with his performance he’s quietened a few critics.”
He also had his say about the star midfielder's leadership style and abilities, “Mesut’s not the sort of player who will scream at you in public just to show the people on the outside that he tries to push us on,” he said. “He’ll speak in the dressing room, he’ll go to every player individually.
"With his quality, he brings a lot to this team. He’s very important for us as a captain and as a player."
Now, assuming that Özil's place is cemented now, would be a fool's act, Emery is too merciless for that, but considering Mikhyatrian is out for next six weeks, we're sure to see Ozil playing for Arsenal more often, but whether he would start or not would be something to look forward to, because he didn't really show much improvement in his physical game in the last match, something which Emery has been ranting for, but he was certainly pleased with Özil's contribution, which was represented by his comments in the post-match conference, the Spaniard tactician was quoted saying, “It was a very good response. He played like we need today.
“His skills, his commitment was very good. He helped us. I said we needed Mesut Ozil and today he was there for us.”
But he also demanded more consistency, as he said, "Ozil played very well. We want a Mesut like today.
The bottom line is, Arsenal need that high pressing mentality and physical game present on the field, but they also need someone who can create chances in tough situations to turn the game around, because we are now sure about having that finishing ability present on the field with Laca and Auba both in great touch, specially the later. Now it's up to Emery to utilize his resources in the best possible way for Arsenal, but keeping one of the best No.10s in the game, out of the match squad is certainly not the way, as was evident in the match against our arch rivals.
Merry Christmas Everyone 🎄, here's wishing all of you love, luck and happy vibes from all of us at Arsenalog! and if by any chance you're considering presenting me something, well then I may have a suggestions for you, there's an elegant Button up there which says "Subscribe", and the rest you all already know, so here I'm signing off with a visual of that wonder pass from Mesut,
