Arsenal Weekly Transfer Roundup: Part One

Why Did Malcom Deal Failed ?

Malcom Was Wanted In Winter Transfer Window

Malcom’s summer transfer saga was one which many won’t forget easily, Barcelona reportedly snatched him from Roma’s hands which led to a lot of unwanted exchanges between the various parties involved. But for all the desperateness that Barcelona showcased in completing his transfer Malcom’s playtime at the club didn’t really match the expectations.

Hence it wasn’t a surprise to see a host of clubs going after the player in the January transfer window. Arsenal have been wanting a wide player for long and hence it was expected for them to make an inquiry, and they did but sadly they couldn’t finalize the deal before the deadline.

And now it has been reported by Mirror.com that Arsenal were not prepared to match the loan fee Barcelona were looking for.

Mesut Ozil Wants To Stay As He Rejects PSG Move

Ozil Wanna Fight For His Place

With Neymar out for next 10 weeks resulting into the Brazilian forward missing out on key games including both Champions League matches against Manchester United, PSG were looking for a replacement. And in a crunchy transfer window, they saw an opportunity in Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil as being a quality player available for a loan deal.

But it’s reported that the former German international has rejected the move in favor of a stay at the Emirates even though he has fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery, it seems Arsenal’s No.10 wants to stay and fight for his position.

Eddie Nketiah Deal Blocked

Nketiah Is Considered As Hot Prospect

Eddie Nketiah has been tipped as the next big thing at the Emirates for a while, and the young forward has even made it to 8 out of Arsenal’s last 10 match-day squads. But he’s missing out on the most valuable and necessary aspect of a young player’s development process, game time.

With Danny Welbeck out, Arsenal are short of attacking backups in their squad, and they were expecting few players to walk in and help them in that department and hence they were open to letting Nketiah leave on a loan deal. With considerable interest in the player, Eddie looked set to join Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe in the Bundesliga. But as Arsenal failed to land any attacking talent except Denis Suarez, it was reported that Unai Emery has kept Nketiah at Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Christopher Nkunku Deal Failed Due To Past Controversies?

Nkunku Debuted Under Emery At PSG

Arsenal’s interest in PSG’s Christopher Nkunku was registered quite early in the transfer window, and him not being a part of Thomas Tuchel’s first team plans, it was expected that Arsenal would successfully complete the loan deal, Though it wasn’t the case.

Now there are many answers to the question of why the deal couldn’t go through. Maybe Tuchel was afraid of losing another midfielder from an already thin bench, or he thought the deal wouldn’t improve the player as he would only be a squad player at the Emirates. But according to the BBC reports,  the snub maybe “Politically motivated” as Sven Mislintat is part of the Arsenal’s recruiting team. The pair are said to be on bad terms from their Borussia Dortmund days when their relations turned sour over a deal of Atletico Madrid’s Oliver Torres.
